DiploFoundation (Diplo) is a non-profit organisation based in Malta, with offices in Geneva and Belgrade. It has Special Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
Diplo’s mission is to strengthen the meaningful participation of all stakeholders in diplomatic practice and international relations. It is done through training, research, publishing and capacity development programmes. Innovation, in particular through the use of e-tools, has been Diplo’s distinctive characteristics (or core mission). As of September 2010, Diplo’s alumni consits of 1867 diplomats, government officials and other participants from 183 countries. For the successes of an innovative training and capacity devlepment methodology, in 2009 Diplo was selected – together with Twitter and Google - among "Top 10 Who Are Changing the World of Internet and Politics".
